Carolyn designed the pattern herself.

“John Modjewski cut the blank out from my original pattern,” Carolyn explained.

The piece, which is about 8″ tall, was carved from a single block of basswood and Carolyn painted the carving with acrylic paints.

Jimmy has been carving since February 2008.

“I made the carving as a gift for a farmer I work for,” Jimmy said. “I used a Harley Refsal knife and some Flexcut V-tools.” The assembled piece is 4″ tall, 43/4″ wide, and 3″ thick. Jimmy used acrylic paints and then dipped the pieces in boiled linseed oil.
